Helping to keep Tube Lines on track
Redsixty’s partnership with Tube Lines is helping to make sure key parts of London Underground are managed effectively, seamlessly and innovatively.
For the past four years, Redsixty has been working with Tube Lines to deliver remote site IT installations, often using its flexible and wide-ranging expert resources at short notice. With its unique approach to budgeting, project management and problem-solving, Redsixty’s ‘hassle-free’ end-to-end solution ensures Tube Lines IT systems are robust and reliable – now and in the future. At the heart of this is its determination to come up with a workable solution to what can sometimes appear to be an insurmountable problem.
It’s that attitude which has led to a successful partnership with Tube Lines. Whatever the challenge, Redsixty looks for sustainable and cost-effective ways to fix it.
Tube Lines manages the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly (JNP) lines, which together carry 40% of passengers on the London Underground. It maintains and upgrades the infrastructure on the lines on behalf of London Undeground. It has to set up around 30 new remote sites each year and they all need a reliable IT infrastructure. Often, ‘wiring up’ these sites to the Tube Lines network can be difficult and time-consuming. Although each site has a variety of needs, core work involves a rigorous and consistent approach. To save time and make it more cost-effective, Tube Lines outsourced the ‘end-to-end’ process. Redsixty was asked to package remote site scoping and provision into a single service delivery model that could be procured by all parts of Tube Lines. This is now managed by Redsixty from start to finish.
As soon as Tube Lines decides to set up a site, it’s down to Redsixty to take away the whole problem – inception, delivery and handover. That includes all the elements that go towards getting the site up and running, such as delivering equipment and training employees. For added value, Redsixty fully support the site until formal handover. The whole process is documented and embedded into the way Tube Lines works through its policy & procedures.
Redsixty uses its extensive network of engineers. As they are accredited to all levels, with London Underground and other passes, they can get into sites easily and quickly.
The company has built up expertise and knowledge in Tube Lines geography, people and systems. Being part of the team in this way enables them to overcome potential hurdles.
Liaison with all other outsource or supplier partners means issues are viewed and managed seamlessly and a good ongoing relationship with BT helps work get done more quickly and efficiently.
Redsixty’s innovative approach to its clients’ budgets is transparent and convenient. It’s based on a fixed cost – something welcomed by Tube Lines as it means it can more accurately plan its budget. A robust system of checks and balances means delivery is structured and controlled. Relevant parts of Tube Lines are charged, removing the need for complicated cross charging of various internal cost centres. |
